Rockford Softball

After losing their assistant softball coach due to leaving to teach in Dubai, Tara Pleggenkuhle has decided to step in Leah Fischer’s place. Pleggenkuhle serves as the high school science teacher. She first started her softball career when she pitched for the Denver softball team. This will be Pleggenkuhle’s second year of coaching; her first year was being the head coach for Dunkerton. “On the varsity level, I hope to improve last year’s record,” was her response when asked what she hopes to be improving this season. “What are your biggest pet peeves of coaching?” Pleggenkuhle responded, “I hate bus rides, because they are so loud! I also hate when batters watch the 3rd strike just go by them.” I also asked some other people how they think she will do coaching. Emily Carroll was one of them. “I like the way she teaches and I learn a lot form her, so her coaching has to be pretty good too.” I also asked a few parents. They believe that she will do her best to improve the JV and varsity team. Last year’s record the Lady Warriors had 6 wins and 21 loses on the season, playing 27. The batting average as a team was .234, 170 hits, 82 runs, 24 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 home runs. 18 sacrifice bunts, 59 walks, and 126 strike outs. They also has 19 stole bases. Fielding wise the girls’ fielding percentage was .903, they got 431 players out, 199 assists, 68 fielding errors, 108 stolen bases allowed, and 6 runners caught stealing. The softball team hopes to improve those records. They would also like to welcome Ms. Pleggenkuhle to the team!
