My favorite quotes

5.”When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That's my religion.”
Abraham Lincoln
1860-1865. He was going through the Civil War trying to free the slaves. I chose this quote because it is how I perceive things that I do whether they are good or bad.

4.”My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return.”
Maya Angelou
Now. Maya Angelou is a great poet and is always trying to come up with quotes of hope and triumph to help people through bad times and to get herself through bad times, especially during the civil rights act. This is one of my favorite quotes, because it states all of the things that I hope to accomplish in my life.

3.”Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”
Abraham Lincoln
1860-1865. During the Civil War trying to figure out the best ways to beat the South so that the North could free the slaves and unite the country again. I enjoy this quote for that fact that if you have something to say but it will make you look even more like a fool then you should just be quiet.

2.”I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.”
Michael Jordan
1994-2000. Soon after Jordan’s career, telling how he had lost many games and missed many shots but still ended up a champion and being a success. Even though I fail I will persevere and become anything I want to be.

1.”Not only do I not know what's going on, I wouldn't know what to do about it if I did.”
George Carlin
During his career in comedy. In this quote he was telling about the government and people not even knowing what is going on or how they would handle it or decide what should be done about it. This is my favorite quote because it states in one sentence how much of America thinks on things and it is very humorous to me.

My Quotes--Mikayla

"It's hard to wait around for something you know might never happen; but it's harder to give up on when you know it's everything you want."--Unknown. Since the author is unknown, I have a feeling that a woman wrote this quote because as I'm growing up and learning about relationships with many different people, a lot of girl have said this, just in a different way. Men give up. This quote reminded me of relationships. It's hard when people need breaks in a relationship because you don't want to wait around not knowing what the outcome is going to be and maybe you just waited around for nothing, but also if they mean that much to you, it's worth the wait.

"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. I means you decided to look beyond the imperfections." -- Unknown. I liked this quote because it's very true. Everything is not perfect in anybody's lives, but if you look past all the bad things in life, you can see the beauty in everything and think that your life is perfect for you and the situations that you have to face and get through.

"If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything." --Mark Twain. The author of this quote was a very friendly, funny guy and for him to say a quote like this is kind of surprising to me. This quote meant a lot to me when I read it because honestly, how many people are truly honest all the time? Not to others, but even to yourself. Everyone tells themselves little white lies to make them feel better on the inside, once you start to tell a lie to yourself over and over, you begin to think it's true.

"A friend is someone who know all about you and still loves you."--Elbert Hubbard. Elbert was an American writer, publisher, artist, and philosopher. He was known for his great writings. I like this quote because as you grow up you really realize whose your real friend and whose not. If you have a friend that has been there through everything and never backed out, they are a true friend. Everyone just likes to know the good details about you, or they like to know the bad things to go and tell everybody else, not good friends. The ones that you can tell your deepest secret even if it's really ugly, and they're still there for you, that's the meaning of a true friend. Everyone has at least one, or is one.

Top 5 Quotes

5. I have learned that to be with those I like is enough.
-Walt Whitman

The time period of Walt Whitman’s writing was the middle 1800s. Walt Whitman was part of the transition from transcendentalism and realism. He was criticized for his obscurity in his writing, so Whitman thought being with the people he liked was enough, he did not need anything else.

I chose Walt Whitman’s quote because I respect him for thinking that a person doesn’t need a ton of people in their life or unnecessary things to make them happy. I enjoy being with the people I like to be with and I don’t need anything else.

4. Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.
-Eleanor Roosevelt

Eleanor Roosevelt did most of her writing while she was First Lady of the United States. She had a lot of disapproval from America because the normal image of a First Lady of the time was beautiful and quiet. Eleanor did a lot of activism and writing, which was not the norm, which is why she wrote the quote about people talking about other people, they are small-minded.

Eleanor Roosevelt has written some of my favorite quotes and I agree with her on a lot of questions about life and politics. I chose this because I see a lot of people who spend most of their time talking about other people and I see it as a waste of time, all the energy someone puts into talking about someone else could have been used to think about something worthwhile.

3. “Some people hide their beauty because they want the world to see it, others hide their beauty because they want the world to see something else.”
-Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a movie that focuses on the very distinct personalities of four young girls. Lena is very shy and not open, the quote was about her because she is an artist and did not want people to focus on her beauty, but the beauty of her art.

I chose the quote about Lena because I see a lot of people who may not emphasize their looks as much as others, but there may be a hidden reason for that. Those people may want the world to look at them in a different way other than what they look like.

2. “Everything's a wheel, turning and turning, never stopping. The frogs is part of it, and the bugs, and the fish, and the wood thrush, too.
And people. But never the same ones. Always coming in new, always growing and changing, and always moving on. Thats the way it's suppose to be. That's the way it is.”
-Natalie Babbitt

Natalie Babbitt is the author of Tuck Everlasting. I enjoy the movie because it speaks to me about life and death. This quote sums up what the circle of life is all about.

I chose the quote because it is beautiful. The quote says that death is going to come to each of us one day and to not be afraid and sad of it because it makes room for new life and that is a happy thing.

1. “Don't be afraid of death; be afraid of an un-lived life. You don't have to live forever, you just have to live.”
-Natalie Babbitt

Natalie Babbitt wrote this quote in Tuck Everlasting as well. It says that a person should live with what they have and not fear the end, just make it the best while you have the time to do it.

I chose this quote as my most inspirational because I feel the same as she does. If you are alive and healthy, you should make the best of the time you have here. You never know how limited it is.

Rockford Softball

After losing their assistant softball coach due to leaving to teach in Dubai, Tara Pleggenkuhle has decided to step in Leah Fischer’s place. Pleggenkuhle serves as the high school science teacher. She first started her softball career when she pitched for the Denver softball team. This will be Pleggenkuhle’s second year of coaching; her first year was being the head coach for Dunkerton. “On the varsity level, I hope to improve last year’s record,” was her response when asked what she hopes to be improving this season. “What are your biggest pet peeves of coaching?” Pleggenkuhle responded, “I hate bus rides, because they are so loud! I also hate when batters watch the 3rd strike just go by them.” I also asked some other people how they think she will do coaching. Emily Carroll was one of them. “I like the way she teaches and I learn a lot form her, so her coaching has to be pretty good too.” I also asked a few parents. They believe that she will do her best to improve the JV and varsity team. Last year’s record the Lady Warriors had 6 wins and 21 loses on the season, playing 27. The batting average as a team was .234, 170 hits, 82 runs, 24 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 home runs. 18 sacrifice bunts, 59 walks, and 126 strike outs. They also has 19 stole bases. Fielding wise the girls’ fielding percentage was .903, they got 431 players out, 199 assists, 68 fielding errors, 108 stolen bases allowed, and 6 runners caught stealing. The softball team hopes to improve those records. They would also like to welcome Ms. Pleggenkuhle to the team!

Man being charged for whistling too loud

Should Robert Smith be charged for whistling? The Portland, Maine man was cited twice by the police due to whistling too loud while walking down the sidewalk on Feb. 25. Business owners complained that his whistling was disturbing the peace. Now Robert can still whistle, but he has to keep moving or he faces jail time.
The thought of a man going to jail all because he whistles too loud, is really preposterous. There are people that stand on the sidewalks and play instruments, but they don’t get the police called on them. What is the difference between and instrument being played outside, and a man whistling while he walks by? It’s still music either way. Laws like this one are a no brainer; don’t have one. Society today has been getting over sensitive and as soon as something happens that they don’t like, they run to the government to make a law for it to stop. They also try to stretch it so it comes back to the constitution and the amendments. Our government was created to protect our rights, not slowly take them away, because it annoys a few people don’t like it. This is ridiculous.http://www.oregonlive.com/newsflash/index.ssf/story/maine-man-can-whistle-but-he-must/e80365dd6aa94026810186becdc38a09

Are you hydrated?

golf review

This review was about golf. The coach about golf is Mr.Klem he had to get his coaching degree for this postion and he was also a good golfer in his high school years. I asked one of the team players why they like the sport so much and he said that it was a lade back sport and that he was going to be the next  pro golfer. Golf can be a very fun sport but they have to wait for the spring to get started to try to get they're way to the top.

football review

i did my review on football and i got some really interesting answers back i asked one what his favorite part of football was and his was the team dinners and his best football hit. The best parts of the season was we won. The coach was coach johnson and Hanson. The worst part of this year for six of the players was it was there last year to play. The one thing they would like to say to there teammates would be to try harder for next year.
