Join the 43rd Annual Benefit Walk! You can walk one mile, three miles, or a 10 miles. Takes place in either in Clear Lake or Fort Dodge on May 6th. The times for both will be the same, the ten mile walk starts at one p.m. and the 3 mile walk, and the one mile walk starts at 2:30 p.m. The Clear Lakes path: Ten mile walk begins at the Newman High School parking lot in Mason City, follows the bike trail to Clear Lake, and then winds through the city to the Village's main campus. The three mile walk starts at the Team Quest parking lot in Clear Lake, and also ends at the Village main campus. The one mile route is on a fitness trail on Village campus.The Fort Dodge routes will take place at the Dodgers stadium, 1930 Elmhurst Ave. Registration packets are available at the Opportunity Village General Store in Clear Lake, Fort Dodge, also in the Village's main office in Clear Lake, and also the offices of Northwoods living at pine house. Walkers can use sponsor envelopes to collect donations or create online fundraising pages at www.firstgiving.com/opportunityvillage. Donors may wish to sponsor walkers with a check; or they can go to www.firstgiving.com/opportunityvillage or a walker's personal FirstGiving fundraising page to sponsor a walker on-line by credit card. This walk is to raise money for Opportunity Village and the people with disabilities who depend on it! It will support the Village's mission of "Excellence in service to individuals with disabilities". Their goal this year is to get up to $100,000, last year they earned up to $132,000 from all participants for the Village services. Opportunity Village serves up to 600 people across the Northern part of Iowa. If you're interested you should really consider doing it! My mom is a staff member in one of the housing areas there, and she says they are a great community, and program! :)
