Film Review

“Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers”

I’ve just finished watching “Halloween 4,” and I would have to say that it’s a pretty good movie. The movie is the 4th movie in the series, based on the original “Halloween” a story of a man who becomes evil and tries to kill all of his family.

In “Halloween 4” it starts off with a psych ward transporting a patient, “Michael Myers” who is thought to be tranquillized but wakes and goes on a killing spree trying to find his niece “Jamie”, his last living relative and kill her, and will stop at nothing to do this. During the movie there are many times where he is hit or shot or stabbed but doesn’t die. The reason he cannot die is because he is complete and total evil filled with hatred and pain.

There are four main actors, and actresses. Donald Pleasence “Dr. Loomis”, Ellie Cornell “Rachel”, Danielle Harris “Jamie”, and George P. Wilbur as “Michael Myers.” Donald Pleasence did a great job playing his character who was at one time “Michael’s” doctor, and has been chasing after him ever since he escaped. Ellie Cornell did an okay job, her role was to stay with “Jamie” and protect her, and she had a great set of lungs for lots of screams. Danielle Harris who was much younger at the time of the movie did an exceptional job for the kind of movie it is and taking her role serious in this horror film. George P. Wilbur who plays “Michael” even though he was basically just a shape in the movie and didn’t talk at all, did good in his character.

I like how the movie is very suspenseful and leads up to a big scare. Like in the movie it shows “Michael” watching the person he is about to murder and then he finds and murders them when they are least expecting it. I didn’t like that while people were ten feet away shooting at “Michael” they couldn’t hit him, which is very unrealistic. Like when “Michael” breaks through the door and the officer shoots at him six times and misses every time.

There were not many lessons to be learned in this movie, it was mostly done for entertainment and a few good scares. If there was a moral to be learned it would be that  you should never turn evil and try to kill your family.

Mostly horror movie nuts would watch this movie, and teens looking for a good scare would watch this film too. I would recommend this movie to teens and adults. “Halloween 4” is rated R for graphic content and blood and gore. I like this film and have followed all of the other films in the series, it is a good movie.

I give this movie a “4 out of 5.”
