The super bowl is coming up and they have to have a coin but this is not a regular every day coin it is a multi billion dollar coin. It is made of of pure gold and silver by highland mint. this coin was made last week and was just presented to the public in Florida for the super bowl and the teams. I think that the coin is a very cool piece of history and its worth a lot of money.http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2013/02/01/super-bowl-commemorative-coins/1883045/

Firework Funeral

Eight people are dead after a truck carrying fireworks exploded in China.  The explosion caused a 260 foot long chunk of bridge to collapse.  At the current time the total is eight dead, and thirteen injured. According to authorities at least twenty-five cars may have driven off the edge of the collapsed bridge and fallen one-hundred feet to the ground below.

The Chinese have a long tradition of using fireworks during celebrations, I believe that safety may be lacking in current times.   Compared to the United States safety regulations, China is lacking majorly and this may be a contributing factor to the explosion. http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/01/world/asia/china-bridge-collapse/index.html?hpt=hp_bn2

Convicted Murderer Set Free

A murderer was set free from a Chicago prison on Friday, February 1st. Steven Robbins, age 44, was convicted of murder in Indianapolis, but was mistakenly set free by authorities in Chicago, however, the reason for the mistake is still unknown. Robbins was taken to Illinois for a court hearing on drug and unrelated firearms charges, after the hearing Robbins was supposed to be returned to prison to serve his 60-year sentence. I think the murderer was released from prison because of a mistake in the system that said he was to be released if the drug charges were dropped. It was a mistake that should not have happened and I hope the criminal will be apprehended as soon as possible. http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/01/justice/illinois-prisoner-released/index.html?hpt=us_c2

3-year-old Boy Accidentally Shot

In Mission, Kansas on Friday January 25,2013  Police said a 3-year-old boy accidentally shot himself on Thursday after his father left a loaded gun out while he was cleaning it. Police said the bullet traveled through the forearm and into the boy’s stomach. The accident happened around 3 p.m. In the 6900 block of West 52nd Street at the Foxridge apartment complex. The gun was a 9 millimeter Glock handgun. Emergency officials said the child’s injuries were life-threatening but he is now in stable condition.Police say there were three adults home at the time of the shooting, including the boy’s father, a roommate and the roommate’s fiance. The mother of the boy was not at the apartment at the time of the shooting but rushed to the hospital when she learned what happened.

I  think that the boys father should have been more careful. You should never leave a loaded gun where a child could reach it and, also they never leave 3-year-old unattended.

Flu Season Gets Worse

The flu epidemic has been getting worse in the past week and a half. With the death toll going up, most of them are the elderly, 65 and older. So far there have 34 pediatric deaths. On average, the flu season take about 24,000 lives across the U.S. But if you want to protect yourself from being one of the victims of the out-break, doctors highly recommend getting your flu shot; it can cut the risk of death and the severity if you get the flu. In the past week, the number of state affected by the flu has gone from 24 to 30.

Please get your flu shot, because I don't want the death toll to go up because of you. It can help protect you and the people around you.http://globegazette.com/news/national/flu-season-bad-one-for-the-elderly-cdc-says/article_f5513157-f5df-52b8-afb7-3fc7a9249ac8.html

Jet Lands after pilot goes unconscious

A jet from Alaska landed on the ground in Portland, Oregon Thursday night after the pilot of the plane lost consciousness. The plane was supposed to land in Seattle, Washington. The co-pilot had to make the landing with 116 passengers and 5 crew members on board. A few days before, the co-pilot fainted briefly when flying from Las Vegas to Seattle. The medical examiners do not know why this is happened because they were both up to date with their 6 month evaluation. They believe the two incidents were not related. The identity of the pilot was not released nor was the condition he is in.

I personally believe that is really scary. It is also suspicious how just a few day before hand, the co-pilot fainted. I'm glad that everyone on the plane was ok.http://globegazette.com/news/national/alaska-jet-lands-after-pilot-loses-consciousness/article_d46dac17-c855-5e2f-a035-66c93ad0fb3f.html

Drug bust in Kanawha

Jeffrey Dale Brown was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Wednesday for drug related charges. In September, he was guilty with methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm. After the hearing, he was guilty of many burglaries of firearms too. He says he has to carry a handgun on him to protect himself at his drug deals because it intimidates, and it easy access for him in self defense. After his 12 years in prison, he has to be on parol for 5 years after. As of now, he is being held in US Marshals custody until he is transferred to federal prison. He did it for a living, to make money so he could survive he says.

There are many other ways you can do stuff to make a living. You don't have to be a drug dealer. Yes, it is not as time consuming it does not take up your whole day and you may make a little more than you would a regular job. It is illegal, dangerous, and just not smart. You shouldn't have to carry a firearm, especially if you have to steal it. I'm glad this guy was caught and now he has to pay the consequence.
