The RRMR Jazz Band is Hosting its annual Jazz Night April 20th, 2013.  Currently the jazz band is in preparation for this event.  Jazz band has normally been an option for band members, however, in current years there have been members of jazz band that are not members of the band.  Mrs. Young believes "Members of the band show determination and want for more involvement in the band."  This year the jazz band played at Tallcorn at UNI, where they were judged and got the opportunity to listen to other bands play. In past years the jazz band has been to several different events to be judged or to just play to increase awareness of the RRMR Jazz Band.  She says that in future years there will hopefully be more opportunities for contests, and possibly bring in more clinicians.  Being a member of the jazz band gives you an extra point on your letter, and "extra credit" towards getting your letter in band.  Kelly Hain has been a member of the jazz band for three years and feels that it is fun, even though it requires waking up early.   She has played the trombone since freshman year, and plays it for jazz band.  Her quote about how the year has gone was "Although numbers are down, we still go to contest and do our best."  The jazz band is a great way to be involved in the RRMR Music Department.  It takes great dedication to show up for practice at 7:30 in the morning.

2012 Football Cheerleading

The 2012 Football Cheerleading squad for Rockford Senior High School has improved considerably since last year. I interviewed Kendra Ringham, a 3-year returning veteran to the squad and future captain of the 2013 squad, and Mikayla Engels, a third party observer of the squad who did not go out for fall sports, so she would have extra time to attend games and witness how the squad was doing. Kendra Ringham said that she would like to continue cheering after high school, but she is not attending a college that offers a cheer squad. She says that she will miss, “Getting people excited for the game at pep rallies,” the most about cheerleading. She feels that cheerleading is a good activity to participate in because you can get the crowd riled up. Kendra has learned that you can make a lot of friends through cheerleading. As future captain, Kendra tells younger cheerleaders who are trying out, “You are going to be nervous during try outs, just be smiley and have confidence.”
I asked Mikayla Engels, who was our third party observer, how she would rate the 2012 Football Cheer Squad on a scale of one to ten. She replied with, “Seven, because there was a lot of cheerleaders who were enthusiastic and they knew the cheers.” She said that Rockford Senior High would be missing something without cheerleading because we would have absolutely no school spirit and no homecoming games to participate in. She said, “The best part of the homecoming festivities this year was when the king candidates’ moms kissed them, it was hilarious.” Mikayla feels that the squad has improved since last years because the cheerleaders seemed more serious about it. She also said that the cheerleaders made the football games more enjoyable for her because she got to make fun of Sabrina Dow.

RRMR School day at 2:00

I chose this theme because while I'm in class, I wonder where other people are or what is being used at the RRMR school. At 2:00 in this school there are not many people in this because they're all good kids and in their class that is required to them. The least effective image would be the weightroom because nobody is in there being active and using it. I think the most effective one is the kids getting ready to go out for recess. They are all happy and rushing to get their stuff on to go and have fun with their friends. If you go out to recess, you will see no little kids outside on the playground because they are all inside all excited and getting ready to go out to play. The middle schoolers are all in the gym working hard during P90X. That's why you see none of them in the weight room. The only person using the vending machine at this time is Sabrina Dow because she likes to skip class and eat. The school Janitor, Wade is roaming the halls picking up whatever needs to be picked up and doing his job correctly. And in the classrooms kids are hard at work on their computers as they should be.

Lets Talk to Juniors... Prom!!

I chose Prom as my article because in do not think most people know the cost of going to prom and what the activities that go with prom.. Like the Grand March... Dance.. After Prom.. Dinners and more things along that line.I think that most juniors should go to prom there jr/ Sr. years because it is a magnificent event.  71% of juniors have never attended prom. Most people think that the dinner should be chosen at the last minute, but there is 44% think they would rather  know way ahead of time. Most Juniors like to have the pictures taken so they have memories of the amazing evening. I would recommend all juniors and seniors to attend the After Prom. It is a time to win tons of prizes and gifts. You also get to have a amazing time with your friends, and think of it like this seniors this is the last After Prom you will have with all of your friends. Now i wanna talk to you about money.... Males Spend about a average of about $250 for prom and Females spend about $400 for prom.I am not sure that those include everything you need, but it may. Most parents help as well..

Prom in RRMR

Prom will be happening on April 13th at 7:00pm in the RRMR gym. Senior's and Juniors are expected and excited to be there and enjoy what they Juniors this year have put together. Prom has been going on for a very long time now, and in many different schools. The event will start at 7:00 as everyone will be seated and ready to watch Grand March. The students will walk down the stage and around the gymnasium stopping for pictures from people in the stands. After they have all gone through once, they normally go around again and do funny postures, change jackets and different types of things.
I talked to two juniors about Prom. A boy, Aaron Jefferey, said that he'd not very involved in Prom this year with setting up, he would pick Expedition. Aaron said he has never heard of a MORP and would never do one. For people that don't know, a MORP is where the girls go to prom in tux and the guys go in dresses. Aaron did go to Prom last year and he said that if he could change one thing about it, it would be to go somewhere else, as in an open auditorium.
Kendra Ringham was another Junior that I asked questions about prom to. I asked her if she would want a lot of food at prom and she simply answered no, because then I would get a tummy ache while dancing. I also asked her if she would care if Sophomore's and Freshman could attend to Prom, she said no because it's a Junior, Senior thing and they would ruin it with too many people. She would want people to stay longer and dance more at Prom if she had it her way, and she says she enjoys walking around twice because it's fun and entertaining.

comfy cosy toasty

I choose comfy, cosy and toasty because when i walk thought the hallways and just look around that is what you see. I choose the picture of the p.e. teacher first because why would a teacher be in comfy cloths and all the other teachers dress up. The next pictures i took was of the principals just being lazy. the next one i was walking thought the music room and you see people roaming around in toasty cloths i still don’t understand. Then the next place i went was the art room and every one is in work cloths and i cant determine why this is confusing. I was getting tired and went out side to find out that it winter outside.

Motion

I chose the theme motion, because I am always in motion and moving; so is the world around me. The first photo was chosen, because it shows Jocelyn's bat moving as she swings. When you are batting you have to keep the bat moving and your brain is always thinking. My second picture of Cassie pitching I thought tied to the theme perfectly. You always have your arms in motion when you are a pitcher. From the warm-ups to the game days, your arms are always moving. This is my favorite picture because you catch her mid-pitch. The third picture is right after a play had ended. Football you have to move more than any other sport I believe, because you have to keep on your toes or else someone will get by you are you will be caught and tackled. Fourth photo was taken, because everyone is still moving and trying to slow down from going fast to try and catch up with everyone. The fifth photo is Madison Wood going through the motions to hit the ball against Garner.  You can see the motion, because she was moving a little too fast for the camera. I like this picture, but I think it's my least favorite out of the rest, because of the blurriness. The sixth picture is Mandy and I going up for a block. Volleyball is a sport that you have to move a lot, because you have to read the hitter's eyes and move to where the ball is traveling.  The seventh picture is of the girls' varsity team during a game against North Butler. If you have ever watched basketball, the only time you sit still is during timeouts, dead ball, or half time/ in between quarters. The eighth picture is of Sadie, Briana, Mandy, and I. Volleyball again you have to always be on the move or the other team will score on you. Picture nine is of Maggie, Jenna, Morgan, Jayden, and Abby right before they preformed their flag routine at their Christmas Tea. Flag routines are a lot of motion, because the flag always moves. Sometimes it is even mesmerizing at how they flow. The last picture I have chosen is of the JJV boys' basketball team in a game against Northwood. I think this shows motion, because you can see the boys running to make it down the court in order to score.
I believe that I conveyed motion very well, because sports are very, very active; in every single picture there is at least one person moving.

Picture Paper

I chose this picture because it show achievements of the students throughout the years.
I chose this picture because it is the hub of the school life, everyone and everything goes through here
 Shows special achievements and pride.
One of my favorite places filled with some of my favorite things.
A new dedication to a hometown hero, and a great man.
 see above
stating who we are for the world to see.
the first thing i saw when i first came here.
a hall for those on their way out of the school.

The theme for these pictures are places that mean something. And i think the library is the least important for most people, and the dedication was the most effective.
